Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain, even in pain after surgery. Tramadol belongs to a class of drugs known as Opioids (narcotic analgesics). Tramadol is a synthetic opioid that acts in the brain and spine (central nervous system) to reduce the pain you feel. When tramadol is used for a long time, it may become a habit and cause mental or physical dependence. This dosage is based on the medical conditions and health of patients. It comes in many shapes and colors to describe the dosage of the medicine. It is a fast effective pill for pain relief. It gives you results in 1-2 hours after taking it. This medication works better if you take it immediately when the pain occurs because if you wait until the pain becomes worse, the medication may not work as well. Do not stop taking tramadol without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking this medicine it can cause some withdrawals such as restlessness, mental/mood changes (including anxiety, trouble sleeping, thoughts of suicide), watering eyes, runny nose, nausea, diarrhea, sweating, and muscle aches. If you face any of the symptoms of these then, contact your doctor or healthcare team. They will guide you about the side effects and prescribe you another medication for pain relief.
